We’re just now shaking off the haze from another party packed week of SIA where we again proudly witnessed a few of our brain children come screaming into the world. We’ve been carrying these projects for the last year and a half, so it’s nice to see them finally pushed out for the world to see. This year’s liter consisted of a gaggle of Rossignol, Atomic, Morrow and 5150 boards, K2 helmets and bindings, some Line Skis, and an iPad catalogue app for Contour cameras. All in all not a bad brood. Typical of new parents we snapped off a ton pics. Here’s a sneak peak to wet your whistle until they drop in your local shops this fall.

Operation Weller Book Works

For the last two years we’ve been working deep undercover to rename, rebrand and reposition Sam Weller’s bookstore. As of this morning the Kraken has been released. They’ve finally moved into their hip new space at Trolley Square, their new name and branding are in place, the website’s up, and last night we placed almost 900 books around Salt Lake guerilla style to kick off their epic Book Drop campaign.

With no cash for paid media we leveraged Weller’s relationship with publishers and got truckloads of books donated for the Book Drop. We then wrapped the books in kick ass custom Weller Book Works covers that encourage people who find the books to read them and then leave them somewhere for someone else to discover. We can’t wait to watch this spread. This project has been a labor of love and we’re stoked to see everything finally falling into place. We love it when a plan comes together.

BRANDING REAL BIG

We reached back into our archives and pulled out some of our favorite logos and lockups we’ve cranked out for our clients, which range from snowboard industry behemoths to startup law firms. These executions are neither scrap nor exploration, but are living and breathing on letterheads, T-shirts, skis, helmets, boots, bindings, bikes and business cards scattered all around the globe. Here at STS we do a lot of things, but boiling down a brand to its visual essence might just be what we do best.

Exorcists of Weakness

We’re proud to say we just launched a new site for Gym Jones. When you hear the word gym you probably imagine a mirrored spandex Mecca dedicated to the vein where hot make-uped moms get their elliptical on until they start to break a sweat, then head to the eucalyptus steam room or poolside Zoomba class. To be clear Gym Jones is not that kind of gym. It’s a literal hell on earth where the World’s best trainers keep the flames of the refiner’s fire stoked with the blood and tears of the dedicated disciples who are privileged enough to suffer there. We’re talking professional athletes, elite military forces, actors who need to get in shape to play a super hero and people who fight for a living. These are the kind of folks you will be working out next to at Gym Jones. If you want to be in the best shape humanly possible and are willing do whatever it takes to get there, you should check it out. If for some strange reason you need any more motivation after seeing the site we suggest watching 300 again. All of those epic Spartan abs were built at Gym Jones. True story.

Pacific Standard Time

We love art. It’s the pulsating heart that pumps inspiration into everything we do, so when our friends at TBWA\Chiat\Day asked us to team up to build a site for Pacific Standard Time, sponsored by the Getty, we were amped. Pacific Standard Time is a totally unique collab between more than 60 cultural institutions across SoCal celebrating the birth of the L.A. art scene. The mission of the site and ongoing festival is to expose the community to every major art movement that popped up from 1945 to 1980 in and around L.A. and demonstrate how this explosive era of art impacted the World. STS + Contour

All last month was all hands on deck here at STS HQ as we pitched for Contour’s business. The late nights and weekends paid-off proper when we were given the nod for our “It’s On” campaign. We’re stoked to work with a company that syncs up so tightly with our own style and attitude. Currently we’re in the middle of helping launch their new kick-ass ContourROAM camera that’s already taking the action sports world by storm. It’s tough, compact, waterproof out of the box and has a killer single switch recording system, which makes it ridiculously simple to capture all of your insane antics in jaw dropping HD. Keep your eyes peeled for all the rad new Contour work that’s set to drop in Transworld and pretty much every other action sports mag on the planet. This is going to be a good time.
