The Challenge
After the success of our work on Thunder Dome, Riot Games asked us to create a customizable, encyclopedia-style home for their more than 150 Champion stories. It had to be easily updatable, it had to have unlimited configuration options, and it had to impress an audience that has seen it all.

The Results
With every new champion that is added to the Universe page, a massive influx of visitors flock to the site. The goal is to get that first glimpse of the character, their backstory, and all of the related content that comes with it. It takes a heck of a lot of infrastructure to handle millions of hits in a short time span, and the STS dev team made sure Universe was up to the task.

Each Champion has a unique story to tell within the LOL Universe. By creating a massive grid of “playing cards” for the champions, the user is able to sift through and see all their favorite heros at a glance, or dig in deep to learn all the details their hearts desire.

Incredible storytelling deserves incredible graphics. By utilizing and incorporating motion from the game, we were able to showcase each Champion’s personality in a more personalized way.

The Result
In a time where creating a website for mobile wasn’t yet a commonality, we did it, and we did it well. With something this customizable, we had to think several steps ahead and build an experience that was fluid and easy to navigate.
